Invitation - Subscription Firenze/Roma, April 1999   Dear friend, there's war, not far from here. Goran Paskaljevic said that when the weapons speak the artists stay silent. Here we don't want to turn the question to you, and we do not want to go into the question who the real artists are, but rather ask whether there is a concrete possibility for our voice to be heard. Our position is against this war and any other kind of violence. However, a part from our political positions and our evaluations of the events (that may not be identical among us), there is an issue of how to become active through an internal and external network of information and exchange. This will start from our internal context but also address the theoretical and practical question of acting upon the external context. Thus we start by contacting our colleagues in the West and the East, asking them to extend the contact to others. How will it work? We plan to set up a mailing list which you can join in one of he following ways:   * By subscribing to the e-mail address: mem@dinonet.it with the subject "subscribe". All the incoming messages will be forwarded to the partecipants and every two/three days they will appear on the site: http://www.dinonet.it/incontri/e_night.htm where they remain for seven days. The list will have a moderator in order ro keep the dialogue constructive. Since we are addressing artists, we will accept material different from verbal statements: but in this case it will be necessary to describe the material sending an e-mail to the address michi@dinonet.it and to wait for an authorization to send. Invito - Sottoscrizione Firenze/Roma, Aprile 1999   Caro amico, c'è una guerra, non lontano da qui. Goran Paskaljevic ha detto che quando tuonano i cannoni gli artisti tacciono. Qui non vogliamo affrontare la questione di chi siano i cosidetti artisti o intellettuali ne se siano effettivamente impotenti in queste situazioni, ma piuttosto chiederci che possibilità reali ci siano di far sentire la nostra voce. La nostra posizione è contro ogni tipo di violenza. Comunque, indipendentemente dalle nostre posizioni politiche e dalle nostre valutazioni degli eventi (che possono non essere identiche fra di noi), la questione è come instaurare attivamente una rete interna ed esterna di scambi di informazioni ed opinioni. Questa iniziativa parte dal nostro ambiente, per interrogarci se esistono forme pratico o teorico di agire sull'esterno. Così cominciamo col contattare i nostri colleghi nel mondo occidentale ed orientale, chiedendo loro di contattarne altri. Come funzionerà? Abbiamo pensato di istituire una mailing list, alla quale si può iscriversi e partecipare nei seguenti modi:   * Sottoscrivendosi usando l'indirizzo e-mail: mem@dinonet.it scrivendo nel subject:"subscribe". Tutti i messaggi saranno reindirizzati ai partecipanti ed ogni due o tre giorni appariranno alla pagina: http://www.dinonet.it/incontri/e_night.htm dove rimarrano per una settimana. La lista avrà un moderatore, allo scopo di mantenere il dialogo ad un livello costruttivo. Dal momento che ci rivolgiamo ad artisti, accetteremo anche contributi che non saranno necessariamente espressi come messaggi scritti: ma in questi casi è necessario descrivere la natura del contributo spedendo una e mail all'indirizzo: michi@dinonet.it ed aspettare la risposta di accettazione. Everything will be in any case published in the site above mentioned. We ask you for comments and suggestions about our role, ideas and projects to built a strategy for concrete action, and informations about similar initiatives in project or in progress. In the meantime we are working on some individual and collective initiatives, such as: contact with organizations for "concerts for peace" (in Firenze and Roma), "conscientious objection" to military expenses, solidariety action (such as the letter of solidariety to the victims of the attack at the RTS television in Belgrade from some colleagues of RAI). We ask you to reply as soon as you can. Tutto sarà poi pubblicato all'indirizzo internet citato sopra. Noi ti chiediamo commenti, suggerimenti sul nostro ruolo, idee e progetti per costruire una strategia per una azione concreta, informazioni circa iniziative analoghe in fase di progettazione oppure già in corso. Intanto noi stiamo lavorando intorno ad alcune iniziative personali e collettive, come il concerto per la pace (a Firenze e Roma), l'autoriduzione dalle tasse di quanto destinato alle spese militari, azioni di solidarietà (come la lettera alle vittime dell'attacco alla televisione di Belgrado da parte di colleghi della Rai).
